The Stork Bake website is updated with a new set of recipes shot at the annual Bake & Shoot. Having worked on the brand for 3 years, this was usually a shoot that took place externally, with the recipe selection and shoot styling being done externally. This year, with the go ahead on the Stork Bake Brave brand repositioning, I was able to take the lead on the envisioned outcome of the 2017 Bake and Shoot.
I spent some time researching current global baking trends (falling down my favourite Pinterest and Food Blog rabbithole) and compiled a list of modern, cutting edge recipes that I felt would really bridge the gap between traditional South African baking and the innovative (but somewhat intimidating) international baking scene.
The amabassador shoot was followed by a week long Bake and Shoot which took place in Cape Town. My research and recipe selections were moulded into 12 Stork Bake signature recipes. Previously, Bake and Shoots comprised only of the finished baked product, which I felt was lacking in warmth and humanity, as well as seeming an impossible feat to most amateur bakers. I wanted this shoot to be approached with authenticity in mind - with process, imperfection and serving incorporated into the shots.
